Went here specifically to do the activity center activities on a rainy Saturday.
For $48, a family of four can do five different activities. You can do two of the following three activities (candle making, tin punching to make an ornament, and painting a spinning top) and three other activities that include weaving, doll making, broom making, and cutting and gluing quilt patches to make a quilt pattern.
Kids, 7 and 10, loved it and our guide was very friendly and helpful. You get to keep whatever you make, which makes a nice souvenir and memory.
Enjoyed walking down the couple of blocks of the recreated canal town and stopping in the shops. As you walk down the street with the shops, there are six other buildings that you can go in for an additional fee (blacksmith, doctor’s office, school, etc.). It was another $45 on top of the activity fee, which we felt to be too much money on top of the activity fees.

Nice weekend getaway for me and my hubby. We did the combo tour which provided us 5 crafts of the period time each. My husband made a mini broom, we both did tin punching, I did a leather bookmark and he did a leather bracelet, we brought home tins for our grandkids and kwilling plus 1 more broom. It was nice that they had kits for us to take home. They had a couple folks who did talks and other buildings had kiosks to explain what buildings were. This is a great family activity and not expensive.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent visit to Historic Roscoe Village! Visitors can move through the buildings at their own pace; displays are informative and interesting; and everyone we met was friendly and welcoming. We recommend a visit to people of all ages, especially families with children.

I live in a canal town (Lockport, NY on the Erie Canal) so visiting Roscoe interested me. Although we really didn't see the canal, we enjoyed the old buildings, which I believe (all but one) are still on their original sites and have not been moved here. The Visitors Center is very informative, offering lots of history.

We have always wanted to come to Historic Roscoe Village and finally did today!
Since it was a last minute decision we had no idea that the Apple Butter festival was going on this weekend.
WAY way too many people to be able to take our time and learn the history of this location. We can’t wait to try it again someday.
Various vendors and visitors filled the street directly in front of the village buildings.

The Interpreters were all very friendly and very knowledgeable about their craft and the time period. The buildings and grounds were very well kept. The plants and flowers were beautiful. We also very much enjoyed the canal boat ride. The interpreter did a very good job of explaining the history of Ohios canal system.

Today’s adventure brought us to pup friendly Roscoe Village in Coshocton, Ohio - an 18th century era canal town. In 1816, Roscoe Village was laid out due to a bankrupt merchant believing farmers would rather do business in his town than pay a $.25 toll for to take the ferryboat to Coshocton. Wiped out in the great 1913 flood to suffer years of decline only to be brought back to life 50 + years ago to the luster it is today, living history. Simply enchanting. This little town is bike friendly as well. The ferry ride was $8 dollars and free parking. The museum visit was $5 dollars, free parking. The self guided living history tour is $11. You will get a key fob to enter certain buildings. And there will be an informational video to listen to and watch. Plenty of places to eat and drink. This town is very walkable, but not super handicapped accessible…TY OH.

We were there in the Autumn but if open during Christmas season and was closer to home we would certainly go there. We generally stay at a B&B. Sorry could not be of more help. Have a "Merry Christmas" no matter what you end up doing.

The website says open Memorial Day through Labor Day. We had planned to visit the next weekend on Sunday 9-10-17. Will the welcome center and shops be open on that Sunday?

Hi Linda. I must apologize. We have just begun to utilize the Trip Advisor sight and I missed your question. The self-guided tour runs Memorial Day through Labor Day. The artisans and interpreters are working in the buildings during that time. The cost is $9.95 Adult and $4.95 Student. Thanks so much for thinking of us. Have a wonderful day!
