Went for breakfast whilst waiting for a train. Very impressed. Plateful of well cooked food and two cups of coffee for £6.95. Friendly service as well.
The Railway Tavern nearest pub to Wymondham Train Station. Popped in here for something to eat and drink while waiting for a train. The food looked and tasted like something bought at farm foods then microwaved, the 'real ale' was flat and off tasted like drinking vinegar even the coke a friend ordered tasted flat. A pretty station with a lovely restaurant, delicious food. As pretty as it is the man who used to look after it has retired so not as good as it was. Also NO DISABLED ACCESS TO PLATFORM 2 just an old footbridge with loads of steps. No toilets either!
Makes catching the train feel a little bit like a treat, it's a good little station and always clean and tidy. My parents love the Bistro for breakfast. No disabled facilities though. If you're on a wheelchair from Norwich, you have to go to attleborough to get off and then come back to wymondham.
You can always catch the next train after visiting the cafe and viewing the memorabelia and enjoy a bun with your tea or coffee.
So if you are a train enthusiast this place may be for you. But if you are not this is just a building with a very expensive tea room.
Typically a small railway station, very few trains travelling through so not very convenient but liked the old-fashioned look. Definitely a nice change from the london underground!
They accommodated us for Sunday lunch when we hadn't booked and there were just roasts on at £8.95 which was fine. Would go there again

The atmosphere was so peaceful and we could have whiled away a couple of hours sitting in the sun and watching the trains go by. The line from Ely to Wymondham... More
Just amazing to turn up there on the motorbike and see all the old railway funiture about and things left like it was the 1950's. Something different to go to and there is the old railway train line to catch a journey on .
