Living in "tornado alley", I have always been interested in the weather. Our visit to the National Weather Center in Norman was great! Our guide was well informed, friendly and funny! The tour takes you through both sections of the weather center (one part is owned by NOAA and is a federal facility and the other is owned by the... More

This facility combines federal resources, university resources, commercial resources and the world's brightest meteorologists and students into one facility to share information, knowledge and resources. In the five story atrium is a globe of the world with LCD projectors showing weather radar, satellite weather, underwater topography, aircraft movement, and nighttime illumination of earth from space showing where cities are located,... This tour through the National Weather Center was very interesting and informative. Our guide (Loren) was very enthusiatic and knowledgable and was also able to steer the discussion away from politics when it strayed. (Which was appreciated) You can take photos but in some areas there are no flash rules. Since we live so close we will probably be sure... More

I had no idea how much weather and the prediction of it affected our lives. This is where the heavy duty stuff goes down and these guys are the ones who chase storms! Thankfully, our guide broke the science down into words I could understand, but it still gave me so much to think about. Tornadoes are big business in... More

Viewers are always well informed. I can always count on this channel to keep me and my family will informed. We all live in different states and countries, this way I can always keep an eye on the weather.

Located on the campus of the University of Oklahoma, the design of the building is interesting with it's open design. The tour lasts about an 1 1/2 hour and includes viewing of the research areas as well as the weather trackers who monitor all weather patterns once they are on land. You are allowed to visit the observation deck and... More

If you are interested in weather, this is the place to visit! The tour took a little over an hour and we learned a ton about weather forcasting and storms. The tour is free and it is great for families with children. The tour also provides a nice vista of the Norman area as an added perk. The building if... More

Could have been a super experience if the weather vehicles would have not been in Florida!!! Call to be sure they are in-house, or wait on the tour another day. Realizing you are in the "Arrogant" town of Soonerville, try to look beyond the tour guide who likes to boast about football of days past! The weather center was the... More

If you are at all interested in weather, this is an AWESOME TOUR; free of charge, and lasted about 1.5 hours. Our guide recently earned his Masters in Meteorology and really knew his stuff. The top floor observation deck is fun to see; and the Storm Prediction Center is where it all happens. Very interesting to see the vehicles used... More

You really need to stop by. This place is the center of the weather community. Whether it is severe weather in OK or a hurricane in FL or a typhoon in Hawaii, this place knows what is going on!
