First off: definitely check their website for their calendar of events, so you don't go during the off season and miss the irises.
But if you are in Salem in the late spring timeframe, stop in and take an hour (or less/more depending on your preference!) to walk around the amazing display gardens bursting with color and a variety of...

The Schreiner's Iris Garden is open to the public during blooming season from the middle of May until the middle of June. It is beautiful and an enormous bouquet of irises can be purchased for $6.
A friend from Portland took us here. We are visiting Portland and told us about this garden. We went today and had a great time walking the gardens. I took over 100 photos. This is well worth the time to come. They sell cut flowers and wish I could have taken an arm load with us.
