We have talked about visiting this museum for years and finally decided to do it on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The rain only made the experience of the past disasters more real because it was easy to imagine how the area looked. The movie shown regularly on the second floor auditorium is a must to get the background info and... More

Always wanted to see this museum about the devastating flood. Impressive display and explanation about what happened.

Great museum, different from the other flood memorials in the area, so don't overlook it. In the original Library, you feel the history, and there are secondary places to see as well...

Extremely interesting and a bit sad. A bit like Katrina. In 1890 there was some warning of a flood that would wipe out a town but not many people fled. The movie is excellent but what made the visit a must was our excellent volunteer guide.

If you don't know the history of Johnstown and its floods, please don't leave town without a visit to the museum. And, definitely see the movie, an Oscar Award Winning documentary. The flood of 1889 devastated Johnstown, killing more than 2,000 residents.

The picture shown on the left is not the museum. The Flood Museum is located inside the old public library building which has been standing for nearly 100 years. The museum exhibits tell the story of the great flood of 1889 in detail and interactive exhibits. There is a small gift shop as well. Nice little place to spend an... More

An hour or two here is well spent to get the feel of what it must have been like to have been a resident of Johnstown, PA when the disasterious and infamous flood of 1889 decimated this prosperous factory town! A great introductory movie, displays and a time-lined lighted model of flood brings this event as much into focus as... More

It was interesting, but there wasn't enough there to make it very interesting. I'm glad I went, but on time will take care of my curiosity.

Museum tells the story of the disastrous flood of 1889 in Johnstown that killed 2200 people. There was an interesting film and numerous displays depicting the tragedy. Probably not interesting to kids, however.
