This trail starts off okay but quickly becomes more and more impressive. We stayed on the main trails only, due to tons of poison ivy (and ticks) and it did not lack for gorgeous scenery! The hollow winds its way through picturesque meadows, trees and shrubs. Birdsong and the crash of the ocean supply the soundtrack. At the bluffs lie... More

If you are looking for a really easy hike with interesting landscape & views, try this hike! The trails are really wide & manicured so makes for a nice leisurely pace.

Hiking through Rodman's Hollow, a nature preserve, is serene. Aim for Black Rock, where you can descend the low bluffs for a magnificent view.

WEll, we happened upon this one by accident. Great trails, a little under-trodden at times, just do a tick check back at your car. Followed a group of people on horses and the main trail is okay for biking to where most points converge at the cliffs. Breathtaking views, worth stopping and taking in before heading back to the main... More

This is the islands "Grand Canyon" but on a much much smaller scale. You would need the day to walk down the path to the sea and enjoy a picnic and rest at the sea and walk back. We loved this area of the island after visiting the Southeast Lighthouse.

This walk takes you down into a hollow. I thought we would never get out. The walk is very long and tiring. Interesting but not too much fun

Rodman's Hollow is lovely. The problem was the map was insufficient for finding our way around. We had to back track and go along the road rather than wend our way throught the hollow as we had hoped. That was disappointing.

A visit to Rodman's Hollow when the Shad Trees are in bloom is an incredible experience. The trees get their name from the shad fish because they bloom when the shad run; i.e., migrate to the shores of Block Island. The uncanny silver glow of the trees during early morning and evening gives an other-worldly appearance. Rodmand's Hollow is a... More

We have been going to Block Island for about 20 years and every year one of our "must do" activities is hike Rodman's Hollow. This is the most scenic place in the world: beautiful vegetation, wildlife, and magnificent views of the Atlantic. The trails are not accessible by car, so bring your walking shoes (some uneven trails) and your water... More
