Second Beach is one of themost scenic spots in RI. Great for walking any time of year. The beach is maintained (raked) in the summer. The beach has few roacks nad a nice shallow slope. Waves break nicely making fro good boogie boarding. Beware during peak summer weekends the large parking lot fills up by 10:00 am

The solitude of the winter. The beach has a wide open feel to it and is a perfect place to walk. One needs to dress warmly because the wind is generally strong off the ocean. It's also a great place to bird watch especially this time of year. If you have plenty of time, a walk around Sachuest Wildlife Preserve... More

This is one of my favorite beaches to walk and explore. Great place to find shells and sea glass. Beautiful views of the surrounding coastline and the bird sanctuary. This place is overcrowded during the summer season and parking is a challenge.

We left Newport with breakfast from a donut shop and sat on the rocks sipping coffee and enjoying the view. Went for a walk on the beach - there was quite a bit seaweed that had washed up and some areas of the sand were very squishy and you sunk into the muck. We were not prepared for that, but... More

There was nothing which stood out for us at Second Beach. If you want to avoid the big crowds and traffic associated with the larger beaches then this is the spot for you. Off the beaten path.

Forget Misquamicutt. Second beach offers the same ocean, none of the crowds, cheaper parking and a ten minute drive to downtown Newport.

Clean, great waves, no seaweed. This beach is always our favorite. Not too far from the snack stand for the kids, always clean, never overly crowded.

This is beach for beach lovers ! Soft sand, nice waves for boogie-boarding, paddle boarding or surfing. The setting is devine, spectacular views and the dunes give the beach a tranquil vibe. The town provides trash bins, portable toilets and lifeguards. Additionally there is a bathhouse and snack bar in the "middle" of the beach. The parking is good--there is... More

Most folks have said it all in terms of good factors - a tranquil setting with great views of the surrounding area, nice water, clean beach, etc. I really enjoy this beach and always go here when in Newport during the summer, but give it a 4 out of 5 only because of 1. the red seaweed that appears in...
