Nice area to walk in, but small. restaurants and shops that cater to expensive tastes in clothes. Restaurants just so-so in quality. Nice outdoor dining from several of the restaurants, facing to the bay. Most things closed on Sunday. If you plan a long stay, anticipate walking to see the local beautiful homes or visit other attractions, too

While walking through historical downtown Beaufort, there are some very nice shops and restaurants. The people are very friendly in the businesses. The art shops and unusual shops make it worth the time to visit.

The waterfront park and Marina, at one end of Bay Street, features the center for scheduling tours by horse drawn carriages, a really great way to get a sense of the history of Beaufort. There are also walking tours available. Besides beautiful old homes and B&Bs, the waterfront view is spectacular, so much so, that now small cruise ships are... More

After a lot of hype we were a bit disappointed with Bay Street. There are some nice galleries and several interesting shops, but nothing that I would go out of my way to see. We had recently come from Bluffton and we found Calhoun Street much more interesting. However, we did manage to buy a few trinkets for our granddaughters.

Nice area with lots of shops from very upscale art boutiques to common tourist traps. Enjoyable to wander through, with some unique items. Lots and lots of places to eat from white table cloth to ice cream, it is hear. Wander from here to the Waterfront Park when you are all shopped out. Nice, but not outstanding (more choice in... Loved lounging in Plum's, eating great shrimp and gazing at the water. Loved finding special gifts in non-chain shops.

This is a quaint little "main street" type walk with stores to browse in. Reminds me of Mayberry RFD.

This is an artist's town! Beautiful gallerys with native pottery, jewlery and crafts. You could spend hours shopping and restaurants up and down Bay Street.
