Beautiful old church - 301 years old and still in use today! Stopped in on a Sunday evening - cemetery is open all the time. Full of history, fun and eerie at the same time. Must visit!

Built before the Revolutionary War, St Helens is a beautiful example of colonial architecture, both inside and out. Most impressive is the cemetery filled with graves from the revolution and the civil war. A nice touch were the flags on some of the graves that indicated which side the grave occupant fought on-union jack, starts and stripes, and the confederate... More

Perfect gem of Colonial southern architecture. Also is a very thriving church congregation to this day. Loved wandering in the cemetery. Virtual roll call of old South Carolina families. Tour guides very hospitable. We also went on the church's once yearly tour of Plantations.

As I have said elsewhere, Beaufort, SC, is a regular stopping point between home in Greenwich, CT and Sea Island, GA. One of the loveliest spots in the handsome ante-Bellum waterfront county seat is 301 year old St Helena Parish (originally Anglican, now Episcopal). The Church itself is a grand building, and one of my favourite spots for a thoughtful... More

The church was beautiful and there was a lot to look at. One of many excellent places to visit near bay street.

An impromptu visit to the church was educational and inspiring. We attended the service and admired the 200 year old church established in 1712 by the Church of England. It was renovated in 2000 at a cost of approximately 8 million dollars which includes the rectory etc. Many prominent residents of Beaufort are its members. The grounds are adjacent to... More

It's all well and good to stroll through the 300 year old graveyard and sit quietly in the beautiful interior any time of the week. If you can attend the Sunday service, especially at 10:15 AM., St Helena comes alive with the two choirs and organ. The chilfrern's choir, members of the RSCM, is worth listening to alone. The church... More

We visited the church during a time when a docent was present. He was very informative on the church history and on the restoration that has recently taken place. We also visited the bookstore and talked to several church parishoners. They very cordial and warm. I felt that if time had allowed, this is a place I would have liked... More

Take a moment to go back 300 years in history! This is a peaceful place for reflection and to see the wonderful ones who served our great country and built this beautiful town. The graves next to the church will give you pause and time to reflect on our wonderful heritage. What a treasure to have and be able to... More
