I love open/closed markets so the City Market was a must. We did more "window" shopping than we did actual shopping, but this place has a little bit of everything. A lot of hand crafted items, but be aware that there are items that look handcrafted, but are Made in China or other places. I was put off by that... More

The old city market has art, jewelry, sweetgrass baskets, food, tshirts, all the things you would normally find in a flea market type setting but prettier. The open air buildings stand in a row for about 3 blocks, you walk from one into another. They seem to run down the middle of the street with sidewalks and stores on each... More

We enjoyed the Market. And the grass basket weavers are the best! We had so much fun with them. Definately bargain with them. I just had to have one!

If you are in Charleston don't miss the Old City Market. It is a fun place to walk through. Make sure you check out the hand made baskets. They are beautiful but keep in mind they are a bit pricey. This is a great place for gifts. I found a navy flag I have been looking for. Take your time... More

Loved this place! This is like a crafts fair, flea market, fun food court, souvenir shop all rolled into one -- but it's actually several buildings in a row. I got my teen daughter several pairs of beautiful, reasonably priced earrings and she bought herself a gorgeous bracelet. We also sampled the crunchy okra in a bag and it was... More

While in South Carolina we visited The Old City Market. A lot of changes had been made since we were last there but it was a definite improvement. The vendors were helpful and the stuff they were selling was quality merchandise. Be sure to visit the Moonpie store on Market Street. So much to do and not enough time.

My grandparents took me & I got a nice shirt & high quality wallet. Some things r overpriced, but others r a great deal (my wallet was $16, saw a similar 1 @ a tourist store for $33), but it's for others to decide. I'm going back next week & my family will return to the market. The new renovations... More

Several blocks long full of local wares for gifts and souveniers, covered roof, so break from the sun, rain would be no problem.

It is interesting just to walk through the market to see it..Centrally located and well-laid out, but unfortunately there was relatively little variety in the merchandise sold there are local vendors but mostly expensive sweetgrass baskets which are quite pricey, some clothing offered and normal touristy stuff.

Not quite what I expected. Closes around 5 p.m., so if you plan to check it out, go earlier in the day. After the 3 buildings housing "The Market" close, there are shops & restaurants on North Market and South Market where you can peruse, snack, drink and eat your way through. When we went back the next day and... More
