The signage was inadequate within the preserve. They should spend a bit of money on additional directional signs, and maybe put in a few benches, so older visitors can rest for a spell during the walk.

Sea Pines is a beautiful place to visit, especially on foot or by bicycle. There's an abundance of wildlife (birds, deer and even an alligator or two). A map offers guidance through the winding preserve and it's a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
Great uncrowded preserve combining marshes, forests, lakes with abundance of water birds and osprey, alligators. It also has a beautiful and colorful flower field full of poppies, cornflowers, baby-blue-eyes. You can walk or bike. Be prepared to spend 2-4 hours.
What a treasure. It takes you away from the tourist areas and is so very relaxing. The flowers were gorgeous and we got to see two bald eagles.
Walk early; and go in spring before it gets buggy. Gorgeous. Such lovely trees! Trail rides available from a nearby farm, also.
Stopped-off on the way to Harbour Town, didn't know what to expect but were pleasantly surprised by the scenery, peace and tranquility and the alligators!
Took a drive around the dirt roads in the morning, stopping at the lakes to watch the Gators (one of which caught a bird for lunch whilst we were watching) and took- in the wildflower...

Walking through the Sea Pines Forest Preserve is getting back to nature and visualizing what the island looked like a hundred years ago or more. Indians did explore here and left their mark which can be found in the preserve. A nice get-away moment for a person or a group.
The Sea Pines Forest Preserve is a wonderful place for hiking and exploring Hilton Head, away from the crowds and activity. There is a $5 fee to enter Sea Pines, but once inside, there is a lot to see. We hiked around the Preserve, and we saw many alligators lazily gliding through the water. We saw a blue heron at...

Hard to believe such a beautiful place was set aside when they built this resort. You can drive into the preserve and walk around the many small lakes they have looking at the different wildlife available or fish from shore. A special permit available at the front gate allows you to fish a well stocked lake.
I went with a few adults, 2 kids, and 2 teenagers. I probably would not recommend this for little kids unless you have a stroller that can handle off-roading on dirt paths. We went in the morning, around 10, and saw a bunch of baby alligators sunning themselves on a bank, and several turtles. We didn't see any birds in...
