Great beach without the high rise hotels and boardwalk expense. The area is clean, restrooms are clean and it is just a nice place to spend a beach afternoon relaxing.

This is one of the loveliest state parks anywhere. We didn't get to see it all, but the wildlife was everywhere. You must take the tour of "Atalaya" castle, former home of Anna and Archer Huntington, who spend their winters here. The castle is not a museum, but it is a beautiful nevertheless. There is also a nature center and...

The water habitats offer some surprising sights as well. Some of the things we saw were Sandhill cranes, a croc that came right near us at...

Those who come to this area to camp must try this park at least once. Campground is clean and nice. Also walking to beach to the Jetties early morning is a good experience. This park offers lots of good edicational places for kids.
The beach is beautiful. The kids loved visiting the nature center and the salt marsh. Seeing the marsh at low tide revealed all sorts of creatures they had never seen before.
I love to come here and just enjoy the peaceful time and the ocean view. I like to walk the ocean and always nice people to visit with whenever I go
Love the walkways and wildlife. Take along a picnic to have under a beautiful shade tree. Then walk over the dunes to a nice quiet beach that seems to go on for miles. Visit the center to view the exhibits. A visit makes for a fun-filled day.
This beach is one of our favorites since it is quieter and less crowded. The natural environment away from the hotels of Myrtle beach make this worth the small fee to get into the park. Always a good experience.
We go to state parks on almost all of our trips and I really enjoyed this one! It's really large and has lots to see! Although we didn't camp, we walked around the camp grounds and it made me wish I was a camper. There are lots of trails and it is right next to the beach. Go tour Atalaya...

We loved our afternoon spent here. It was by far the highlight of our trip to Myrtle Beach. Lots of natural beauty to enjoy. If you like to see trees and not high-rise buildings when you're at the beach, go here!
