This is a beautiful place full of history and intriguing architecture. It is free and very well done. Museums that charge admission are often not as good as this. It is well worth a visit.

Very nice, quiet and secluded. perfect place for weddings or small gatherings. Not much room on the inside but very unique feel.
The area (now filled with housing) outside of the pines where the chapel is, was a huge beautiful open meadow that was once a golf course in the 20's/30's. Easy to get to. Was very well kept after all these years. They ask for (via a drop box) a small donation.. not required. Great place to go get some photos taken with a group.

Its a cool little place where some fun summertime events are held. It is not a destination, but if you are near it then go check it out!
This is a very nice place to visit. After all of the commercialism of the Black Hills the Chapel in the Hills is a refreshing respite. Staff were friendly, but allowed you to enjoy the area in your own way.
The beauty of travel are the surprising little discoveries I make along the way. My trip to South Dakota led to a wonderful surprise at the foot of the Black Hills in Rapid City. It's the Chapel in the Hills. Although I had read rave reviews, I didn't know for sure. I'm not a religious person but I couldn't help...

Wanna see some medieval European architecture while you're in South Dakota? (If you don't answer "Um, yes?", then I don't know what to tell you.) Chapel in the Hills is a total gem. It's such a neat piece of history and in one of the most gorgeous settings imaginable. The little museum is neat too. And when we were there,...

Stopped here on our list of free things to do in Rapid City. It was worth the quick stop. Chapel was pretty neat, very small but authentic. They also have a small cabin off to the side from one of the original inhabitants who lived there with authentic period pieces. If you have a quick half hour to an hour...
