You can really see where the battle took place from an un- obstructed view of then entire area. Not hard to imagine what Hood saw as the battle began. The monument itself needs some work, fresh paint and polish on the brass maps showing battle details

“a sobering reminder”

The memorial plaques at this staging ground for the Battle of Franklin are a grim reminder of what this battle cost the Confederates. Combined with the Lotz & Carter House Tours it brings the full scene 'to life'.

“Off the beaten path”

we've lived here a long time and in September 2012 took our first trip to the Confederate Memorial Park at Winstead Hill. It's a nice area with lots of information regarding the Civil War. There is a nice trail and picnic tables where families can sit and relax. And, its free. Go take a look!
