We were staying at the hotel and wandered several times round the gardens. We explored the walled garden and examined various plants, herbs, flowers and trees. The gardens to he hotel ave the prettiest walk through the woodland, it was masses with white bluebells and wild garlic. The lake was peaceful and there were 4 rescue swans looking serenely unreal.... More

On a recent visit to the area, we took the opportunity to visit the Ballymaloe shop and cafe near Shanagarry, we were disappointed with the cafe element. The seating area is small and cramped, there was very little choice on offer and poorly presented in a haphazard way. We called in around the 3.30 mark hoping for a good selection... More

Fruit trees, loved watching the chickens., and I even got to take part in the afternoon cooking demonstration. Lunch with the students there was fun.

Lovely spot for Sunday lunch - stroll around the shop and a light lunch in the cafe - salads, sandwiches, fresh cakes, tea/coffee and quite reasonable too.

Great food, excellent home and gift store and great walks all year round. Near Shanagarry where you can visit Stephen Pearce Pottery, Ballymaloe House, The Shanagarry Design Centre, Ballycotton which has amazing cliff walks. There is a lovely beach at Garryvoe and the Garryvoe hotel has good value food, a nice pub and good trad music.

we were the only visitors and enjoyed the walk in the gardens. The glass house is fantastic, flowers beautiful and we after starting with seeing the hens, we finished with a hello to the piglets!

Even if you are not eating at Ballymaloe house you can enjoy a lovely walk in the grounds. The hidden vegetable garden is a gem and you can stroll among the peacocks along the river. You can also improve your cookery skills by purchasing an allen cookbook in the shop! A lovely place to spend a relaxing few hours.

Loved the informal grounds and the fact that nobody except ourselves was there at that time. It is in a very mild area so plants that we see in the east grow very well.

Fantastic way to spend the afternoon even though we visited when most things were past their best. The greenhouses are something else. The shell house is also very pretty and I got in free as my partner was on the cookery course!
