Incredible collection of fine porcelain, silver and other items circa 1700-1800's. Very interesting tour. The grounds are beautiful as well.

I had two hours between meetings and was in the neighborhood and was thoroughly surprised. The Rienzi Museum is hidden between other large mansions on Kirby Drive, so I drove by it twice, before I located it. When you approach it, you feel like you are visiting the Masterson family's home, not a city museum. Luckily, I found there were...

If you enjoy exploring mansions of the American elite like the Breakers in Newport, Rhode Island or San Simeon in California, this is something comparable but on a more human scale. It's perhaps more similar to the Vizcaya Estate in Miami although the unbelievable gardens and ocean views at Vizcaya are in something of a different league.
If you can't...

We toured the Rienzi Mansion as part of the year's Azalea Trail tour. Entry was $5/person. The mansion's grounds were well-tended. Its flowerbeds were in full bloom. Its statuary was peculiar — two devil's heads to one side of the drive, a pensive nude beside a reflecting pool out back. Tour hosts were cordial. Security was alert. Indoor photography was...

I have been going to Rienzi all of my life. I first went there when it was still the Masterson's home. Rienzi is one of our great treasures and one that we as Houstonians and Texans are proud to show to visitors from near and far. Please do yourself a favor and take a tour. If you can do it...

this is the best house museum I have ever been to. The artwork and the porcelain collection are fantastic and when there are not many people there, you can a private tour with the docent (which are all excellent guides.)
Now, I enjoy museums, history and art as much, if not much more than the average person, but this stop in Houston didn't do much for me.
Perhaps if I was a porcelain collector (?). The tour was limited to a handful of rooms which was a bit of a disappointment.
Furthermore, I find it odd that pieces are voted...

it's a tastefully furnished mansion with the world's largest collection of Worcester porcelain,.. during a family day in Bayou house, once annually a heritage bus takes visitors to this mansion as well... a gentleman was playing the piano, and it was great to stroll through the rooms and the grounds
The home was a combination of high society entertaining and family warmth in a magnificent setting. The china collection displayed in the ballroom built-in display cabinets alone were worth seeing and imagining what it was like to collect such beautiful china. The grounds were a landscaper's perfection of ideal Southern plants and light through the tall forest growth. Wish I...

This is an exquisite, beautiful mansion in the River Oaks area of Houston. We took an informative tour with a guide who walked us through each of the public rooms and who told us all about the family who lived here, the art they loved, and the architecture defining the home. It also houses the world's largest collection of Worcester...
