The museum is located in a town that stopped in time and is simly part of the charm and didly of this town, and the museum is home to the history of Jefferson in its "heyday" the riverport...until the train... The model train bequethed to Jefferson from Fort Worth is housed in a train-station-replica in the museum's back yard.

Jefferson is one of the most under-rated small towns in Texas- it is a great destination, rich with history and unique Antebellum architecture. The Historical Museum has multiple levels. They have recently moved a large model train set from Ft. Worth to an out building behind the museum. The details of this display are truly amazing. I found the total... More

This is a have to see thing if you are touring the town of little ol' Jefferson, Texas. This will explain the history of the town and some of its localites. The museum is fairly cheap and has many things to see.

It's amazing to say the least, I don't expect so much history in this little place. I have been to a lot of museum at metro-areas and most of them are empty with chick design, you were think it features the building instead of history pieces. This one is jam packed with suprises. Must go if you are interested in... More

We visited here on our 2nd trip to Jefferson. We found the history and artwork interesting. It was fun reading about people and places in historical Jefferson.

This museum houses a tremendous amount of local historical items from Indian to early settler to things that the wealthy inhabitants owned during Jefferson's heydays when riverboating and shipping were king. An interesting side attraction is a large model railroad built by a Fort Worth man - the detail is extraordinary.

Wow, where do I start! This is an old courts building so the architecture is very awesome. This building is just full of all kinds of little goodies to see. They have some mock scenes to show ppl what it looked like back in the day and they have a huge collection of anything and everything. For just a few... More
