Prospectors discovered silver in 1868 in the area that soon after became Park City. Mine owners made fortunes, while thousands of miners simply made a living. After silver prices declined, Park City reinvented itself as a ski resort town. Interactive displays tell the Park City story in an engaging manner. Fun for the whole family! This museum is a great little gem tucked into a store front in downtown park city. It is worth it if you are interested in learning more about the trials and tribulations of the area before skiing became the base of the economy. It is very interesting and you can even see the local pokey from the 19th century... so... More

The jail was the draw for us but I was very impressed with all of the artifacts and the mine exhibits. My grandchildren had fun. The workers were so pleasant.

My son and husband were on the slopes so I was looking for different things to do on my own. Walking through the little museum was interesting. It is only $10 for adults.

The museum gives visitors a nice history of Park City. There's all kinds of cool stuff that the kids loved looking at. The jail cell was probably their personal favorite as well as stories about the miners. This is a good place to take the kids so they're aware of just how cool this city is. There's so much more... We spent a couple of hours touring this little museum. We learned quite a bit about the area and its development. There is an elderly gentleman who spends his time here giving his take on the history of Park City. It was a nice break from the hill and shopping.

This is a beautiful, well-curated little museum. At first my husband did not want to pay the $10-per-adult to visit and told me and my son to just go in by ourselves...he was glad he went along! The lovely ladies who staff the front desk are very proud of their museum, and they should be! Packed inside are some pretty... More

On our day off from skiiing, me, my wife and our two teenage boys took a side trip here and we all really enjoyed. It was educational but in a fun way (who wouldn't want to see a basement jail cell used in the late 1800s) that also had some nice interactive features. The history of the Town is interesting... We took our six children to this museum and thought it was a wonderful adventure. The two upstairs floors explore historic Park City, Utah as a mining and skiing town, but the basement was the true gem for us. The basement is devoted to more mining and also houses the original Park City jail which was the kids' favorite part.... More

They have put so much into the newly renovated museum which is located right on Main Street. My kids loved the big boom sounds from the downstairs mining reinactment blast. The old jail is a little scary for small children. The video book of the arrested or wanted was really neat. There were so many interesting things about the museum... More
