Immediately upon entering you have to navigate a gift store to get into the play area. My normally even keeled two-year-old had a complete meltdown. Very hard to explain to toddler which toys he could play with and which ones he could not. I'm sure most patents just cave and buy things from the gift shop. Feels very manipulative, we... More

The museum is not a good place for older children above 4, not alot to do....plus adults pay money to get in and walk or sit around. Its good for younger children for about an hour of play and then it gets tiring, the selection is limited.

First of all, I have no idea why adults have to pay to get into children's museums. I would probably go more often if I wasn't paying $24 for 3 of us to go (2 of which are adults). Then we get in there, and I was really surprised at how there was so very little to do. My son... More

A good place to let the kids run around and explore. There is lots of variety here for the kids to play and learn. They have everything from a train to art stations. Parking on the street can be limited but there is a parking deck just a couple doors down.

This is a great palce for older and younger kids. Tons of handson things to do. Interactive activities for all ages. Will go back again for fieldtrips in the summer. Suggest everyone give it a try.

I took my 3yo and 1yo twins here. The twins had a great little blocked off spot to play, which was the best about this place. My 3yo was only entertained by the sand and train. This is a fairly fun place for maybe 5 yo and under. It was smaller than anticipated, but as a parent trying to keep... More

This may be fine for kids 2 and under. I took three kids ages 2,5,6. We were done in an hour. The Richmond site and the new Chesterfield location is better. The one good thing is that you pay for one and can visit all three on the same day. For the price, that is the best thing to do.

Keeps the little ones active and happy while teaching them (without them even realizing they are being taught!)

My son LOVES the Children's Museum! I would give the downtown location 5 stars, but this one only 4 because it's really only for smaller toddlers. My son is 3.5 now and was completely bored last time we visited the Short Pump location. He loved it when he was 2 though.
