BBNWR is home to transitory and 'locals' of the feathered and ground persuasion types. Be prepared to explore along well marked trails and stay on the paths to avoid impacting the environment. Winter brings its own 'coolness' that gives crystal-clear (humidity and mosquito-free) skies, and reduces the chance of an up close encounter with black snakes and water moccasins, both... More

I am almost hesitant to write this review- that's just how much i love this place! I was there for two days and did not see a single person (without the exception of a park ranger of course) and loved every moment of it. Since we were staying overnight we could not leave our car inside the park; but the... More

What a lovely serene place. You can walk for miles and not see a soul, just beautiful wildlife. The dunes remind me of the movie "the summer of 42". No wonder Charles Kuralt included this in his walk across America!

A long serene drive with all out beauty. The water, birds and water lillies are so calming. A must if you want to get away for the day. Little wineries and pick your own fruit farms to end it!

Great views and a nice ranger/info station. We wanted to bike there but the road (road?) was too punishing. Yeah, we're wimps... The bugs were horriffic, too. Imagine a place where they put up signs warning about the ticks...

We really loved our drive to the Back Bay Area. Especially Sandbridge Beach. We are beach fanatics and this was a great, out of the hub of VA Beach. Very relaxing!

We were there in March, it was rather cool, but still had a great time walking the trails. Managed to see some turtles sunny themselves.

Wonderful place to visit to view wildlife. Natural beaches are beautiful and great for seashell hunting. Good combination of bay and beach. Plenty of nature trails.
