While the museum is not huge, the collection was quite extensive and varied, with exhibits from petrified wood to antique furniture to neon signs. The best part was a WWI and WWII poster collection that featured artist like Norman Rockwell and Dr. Seuss creating amazing posters. It was one of the most impressive collections of original posters that I've seen.... More

This was my second visit with my wheelchair bound mother, who is 87 years old. First we had a light lunch in the attached 50's dinner, that was good and the staff was very kind. Then without even going back outside we used the elevator to go up to the entrance floor and start our tour. There are a variety... More

So much to see and very well presented. We practically had the place to ourselves on a Tuesday morning.

I love the museum here. They have a little bit of everything that has to do with the Yakima Valley. They have great artifacts from teh olden days as well as some natural history things like mammoth bones and lots of cool gemstones. Their kid center is great too. Lots of things to keep them busy like educational computer programs,... More

I've been to the Yakima Valley Museum quite a few times. Their collection of horse-drawn vehicles will amaze you, but you can find something for everyone at this lovely museum. I especially like the Yakama Indian exhibits, the prehistoric fossils and the Museum soda fountain. If you wish to travel back in time to bygone days, give this great little... More

While traveling in Oregon, I wanted to learn more about former Supreme Court William O. Douglas, who hails from Yakima Washington. A staff member came out of her office and gave me a Douglas brochure and pointed me to the exhibit. There were items from his Supreme Court office and personal background information on this jurist. The other parts of... More

The staff was so helpful & bent over backwards to help us. We came here to research our family history in the Yakima Valley. Wiley City is named after our Great, Great Grandpa They spent several hours helping us pull up old photos, land maps etc from the 1800s. The Museum has original county books of land tracks, maps &... Don't miss the regional historical displays including covered wagons and indiginous peoples artifacts. Good for families--everyone will learn. Always something fun happening in this beautifully maintained facility. Located on the grounds of Franklin Park where the kids can run and play. The Museum Ice Crean Shop is delightful for lunch and snacks.

The children's underground has basically been gutted - this was our favorite part of the museum. The exhibits are a bit stale.

Visit the ice cream soda shoppe on the ground floor! Current exhibits are fun and worth the time. Air conditioned makes the time worth while.
