I have lived in the area most of my life and have never toured this "hidden gem" in Janesville, WI. We had a great time and were amazed at all the history in this place. It is incredible what this place looks like inside. I cou;dn't even begin to try and explain what it looks like because you have to... More

We arrived at a time when there were members of the historical society present and in period correct clothing, explaining the history of the building as well as some of the people involved. Mrs. Lincoln was even present! Taking a tour of this house would be interesting enough, but having the people there acting out their parts, gave a visitor... More

As a teenager in high school, I volunteered to help at an ice cream social. We got to get up in the attic and wear dresses of the time and as a young teen could fit into the very petite clothes of the times.

It was great. I took my two daughters (ages 9 and 7). They loved it. It is a great historical site. You learn a lot and the kids talked about it for days. Great guides. Highly recommended.

The Tallman House is like many historic houses to be found it towns and cities across America. The house is maintained as it would have looked in the 1860s, around the time Lincoln, a family friend of the original owners, stopped to spend the night. The Tallman House hosts a variety of history and related gatherings during its open season.

The house and museum are very well maintained and volunteers are knowledgeable. A big fan of their annual art fair in August. It has gotten bigger each year.

I visited the Tallman House with my boyfriend, Wisconsin friend and my 13-year old nephew. I thought it might be difficult to keep my techy-head boyfriend and typical 13-year-old 'I'm not interested in anything' nephew engaged but the guide did an excellent job of it! The tour started right on time - the guide brought us from the museum to... More
