This was a neat way to learn how things came to the area? It's a walk and read at your own pace. A tad pricey, but interesting.

This studio gives the real information on how the Dells was made famous by H. H. Bennett, a photgrapher. Because of his photos people from Chicago, etc.started coming to the Dells. You can see actual pictures of the first tourists to the Dells. Fascinating and very unique.

This Historic Museum shows the beautiful photos and equipment of the photographer who put the Dells on the map starting back in 1865. He loved the Wisconsin River (the first waterpark) and the rock formations and wanted the rest of the world to see it. He promoted the dells of the Wisconsin River through his photos. We wouldn't be here... More

If you are a history buff like me, you will enjoy this place. This place tells the story of the beginning of the Wisconsin Dells before it became waterpark heaven. This is a museum with a lot of great stuff to see and read, so if you have people have get bored easily this may not be the place for... More

Between typical dumpy Wisconsin Dells storefronts is a very nice surprise! This museum is worth the cost of admission and provides both insight into early photography and life in the Dells in the late 1800's. Bennett's life story is fascinating and learning about his photographic inventions which led to modern photography, as we know it, was simply amazing. We had... More

This Wisconsin Historical Society site is an interesting and educational tour through both the history of an important figure in historical photography as well as the history of the Wisconsin Dells through his photographs. The museum is well laid out and highlights the photography well. I had never seen so many Ho-Chunk (aka Winnebago) Indian photos ever before. The walk-through... More

Neat stop nestled in among crappy tourist shops, well worth the visit. Museum tells the story of HH Bennett, an amazing photographer from the 1800's.

On several previous visits, I had simply wandered into the gift shop but never paid the $7 admission to visit the historic studio and museum behind it. I corrected that mistake my last visit and was very glad. Mr. Bennett was a longtime photographer in the Dells, who helped promote early tourism through his photos. His family has saved his... More

The H. H. Bennett studio museum is a small museum filled with Mr. Bennett's beautiful black and white photographs of breathtaking views of the Dells, as well as history and photos of the Ho-Chunk indians, who are native to this region. We enjoyed looking at his work, which included many photos of beautiful scenery of the Dells from many years... More

With so many awful T Shirt shops in the downtown Dells district, this store is like a breath of fresh air with so much class and atmosphere and revelence that you will be transported back in time. And oh, did I mention that for a mere 7 bucks that there is a terrific museum all about the life and career... More
