The all-to-short mule wagon part of this tour seems right for a visit to beautiful Waipi'o Valley, where normal "island time" is, by comparison, Manhattan at rush hour. The "adventure" part is the van ride down and up the 25% grade road that takes you into the valley.

I really enjoyed the mule drawn wagon tour into Waipi'o valley. Very pretty scenery, interesting tour guide and the right speed to really see everything and take gorgeous photos. Good value!

The Wagon Tour was a really fun, interesting experience. One of the guides's family had lived in the valley for over 100 years and added an interesting perspective to the history and culture of the area. The other guide was very knowledgeable in the nature and wildlife of the valley. We didn't do this, but it would be great to... More

Although I will admit that our guide was a little lack-luster I still found the tour fun and interesting. The views of the waterfalls from the valley floor were breathtaking. It was interesting to know that some people lived down there relying on solar power or with no running water. That's really roughing it!

We made a long excursion to see this valley because a highly touted guide book recommended it. We chose the mule trip because the guide book described it as more "fun". Wow! The tours in vans must be REALLY dull. This is a pleasant little valley filled with very small farms. The valley had a history as an important city-village... More

Less than 2 hour's drive from from Kailua- Kona where we were staying made for a great outing to see Waipio Valley up close (as opposed to looking down from the viewpoint above...) We booked our tour 3 days in advance over the phone with "Selma" who gave us easy to follow directions to the "Last Chance Store" in Honokaa... More

We traveled to Kona for Christmas with fifteen family members and this was one of our tours. It was a nice way for the grandparents to see more of the island, but not too exciting for the rest of us. Pretty pricy for an hour tour that could have been an easy walk. Very nice guide and the trip down... More

A Guided tour to the valley floor big van. Nice to see the valley floor and the streams. Even though few in the group came late and we were running late, the guide took time to show us around.

Waipio valley is a hidden gem where you can sample what Hawaii used to be before the tourism mess ! For the beautiful WAGON TOUR we were picked at the Last Chance Store ... which , by the way , was closed at the moment ! ... So, no last chance ! :) Remember to take advantage of the restrooms... We wanted to see inside Waipi'o Valley. We didn't rent a 4x4 while on the Island and my husband is weight limit challenged, so we decided to do the Waipi'o Valley Wagon Tour. The day we did the 12:30pm tour, the day started out rainy and remained misty. The covered wagon did a good job of keeping us dry during... More
