The kids really enjoyed the Maui Ocean Center. There was some very nice information on the local sea life but honestly I wouldn't go out of my way to make the trip. You can go to an aquarium back home, don't waste your time on Maui

We visited the Maui Ocean Center on 14th June 2013 after having eaten at their Seascape Ma’alaeca Restaurant. The marine life and corals kept at this center are all from the Hawaiian seas. At the entrance are static displays of marine life followed by displays of jelly fishes and a discovery pool. The main display tanks are at the huge...

Research did not prepare me for the disappointments we experienced here. With audio and entry for two we paid $59. The online discount of 10% off is only available if you buy a day or more in advance of going. Still, we wanted to learn about the local marine life as advertised, and I wanted pictures for art studies. There...

Stopped on our drive from the airport to Ka'anapali Beach since we arrived ahead of check-in. This center rivals a similar setup found at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas but has a better feel to it.
Both educational and 'soft touch' techniques are used to stimulate both young and old. Amazing displays of jelly fish, varieties of sharks and the...

Having spent a fair amount of time in some major aquaria, I was willing to visit the Maui Ocean Center, but prepared to be underwhelmed. Well, the visit was special in several ways. First, at the very start of our visit we got to hear Daniel, a young student intern, give his first public presentation about one of the exhibits....

With this aquarium being in Maui, HI I expected a lot of tropical fish and things that we would not normally see otherwise. There was not a lot of tropical fish at all. The turtle exhibit was being worked on when we went so we were only able to see about three turtles. No whales or dolphins was a big...

Having been in a few different aquariums, we were not as impressed with this one as we thought we would be based on the reviews. Add in the price and we were not as impressed as many of the reviews.
There are some very interesting features, and a lot of fish you likely will not see on the mainland aquariums....

Over our week in Maui, several of the stops we made during that time had some sort of advertisement, reference, or connection to the Ocean Center, so we stopped there on the way out of town. It was a stop well made. Situated adjacent to a marina, the experience was that much more authentic. (A note for the penny pinching...

My wife and I visited this place on May 28, 2013. This is an excellent place to stop by for a few hours. This place was teeming with kids. This is not as big as Monterey bay or any other aquariums that I have seen but I found all the displays here interesting and well maintained.
I wish to come...

The Maui Ocean Center was one stop on our Best of Maui tour, booked as a shore excursion from our cruise.
I'm really glad the aquarium was included in the tour because it was great! I've been to larger aquariums but this one was just as nice. They had several different areas and displays which helps to spread out the...
