It is a nice building, but you can't compare to European style. The neighborhood is full of beggars and crazy people. Did not feel very pleased.
Bad acoustics, bad customer service, I would recommend that you go anywhere else. These people are arrogant, rude, and have absolutely no talent whatsoever. You WILL be disappointed ;-(
A bit pricey but defiantly worth going to see the SF Symphony or one of the many other venues offered. A beautiful structure.
Esp liked pre-concert lecture w audio illustrations. Made Nielsen symphony much more understandable.
On a short work trip to San Francisco from the UK, we wanted to catch a classical concert by the SFSymphony Orchestra - and what a wonderful performance it was, conducted by the elegant and expressive Christoph Eschenbach. We found out San Francisco Symphony's center terrace seats are sold for $15 to $20 two hours before the performance; additionally, student rushes may be available for $20. (Call the organization's box office...

Nice sunny day, walked around the botanical gardens and near area. If catching the #71 bus, take it around the south side of the park and get off at 9th street stop. Start of the park next to Haight is grotty, dirty, smelly.
My husband and I have been symphony subscribers for many many years. The conductor, Michael Tilson Thomas, is a world-class conductor as are the musicians. The music selections are varied and it is also nice to hear guest conductors sometimes. We feel lucky to have such quality music so close to home.
