Amazing views of the Castle Rock valley and unique and beautiful scenery on the mountain. We passed lots of adorable cows wandering and grazing so be careful not to go too fast. Also, the elevation makes this drive far cooler than being in the canyon so it's a good drive to take in the later afternoon to get some nice... More

The La Sal Mountain Loop is a beautiful drive that you won't regret doing. From the national forest, beautiful red rock, and the glistening colorado river you really can't go wrong. The road could be a little better but if you come visit Moab this drive should be on your to do list!

It has been high 90's up to 103 in Moab during our visit. We heard about the La Sal Loop drive so decided to escape from the heat for an afternoon and take the La Sal Mountain Loop Road. It was in the 70's at the highest elevation we travelled. The views looking down onto Cathedral Valley were gorgeous! We... More

A different perspective to the red rocks at lower altitudes. An interesting scenic road, with both rebuilt sections, and stretches in need of repair. Accessible with 2-wheel drive vehicle. Good views, and cooler climate - still some snow at higher elevations - not on the road

The mountain loop is a great drive. Stop at Warner Lake for a nice lake view or Oowah Lake to fish. You can hike the mountains too for the more adventurous. Do NOT hike from Warner to Oowah, big mistake, you go down and then steeply back up. Also, bring water from wherever you came from, there is none closeby... More

Great chance to drive up out of the kiva like heat of Moab. Beautiful views and some places to camp and cabin in the mountains. Just a lovely, relaxing drive to get above it all. Can't wait til summer to go up again

We started from the Colorado River end and the drop-offs on the right were scary over the top. Lovely loop trip of 60+ miles and it took longer then expected because of the rough road in parts and the numerous switchbacks. Passed the top end of the Kokopelli run and would like to have joined the bikers. The highest part... More

Nice scenic views, watch for wildlife crossing the road and watch for the switchbacks. Drove down the road to the Battlegrounds where the last Cowboy and Indian battle took place and see the graves of the deceased. (wouldn't take a road bike there)

Most people drive the La Sal Loop coming from Moab - I started from Castle Valley. I liked how I could easily climb up the mountain, meanwhile being able to pull out regularly to take pictures of the Castle Valley I had just left behind. The views got better and better but unless you are a very talented photographer (unlike... More
