I loved this National Forest! It was the perfect place to drive through for the day. This is a fabulous area to visit in the fall in Colorado! Road trips over Ohio and Kebler Passes are breathtaking. Crested Butte,Black Canyon and Taylor Park Reservoir are just a short drive away.

We are constantly in search of good camping spots in Colorado. This spot is about a 3.5 to 4 hour drive from Denver. If it's good weather, make sure to take Cottonwood Pass from Buena Vista instead of going all the way down through Gunnison. It saves about 45 minutes of driving, but the road is pretty rough.

In the Gunnison National Forest area there is a place in Almont, Co called the Almont Resort. We did a TERRIFFIC rafting trip. It was class 2-3 rapids. We had to paddle a little but loved it!
