Last time I stayed in New York my colleagues and I went to Wine Bar. We were a big group so they reserved the two tables on the higher level which was more private than the main dining area. I ordered the parpadelle with pork. I found that it was a different combination than what I am used to. After... More
Stopped here with a friend who is well versed in wine selection. Our waiter impressed her with his knowledge. Enjoyed a selection of Pinots. The small plates are also good. We had only the olives and cheese but neighboring tables (the tables are very close) had tacos and crostini which looked delicious.
What a fantastic wine bar. We spent a short while here sampling the delights of this fantastic wine bar after visiting 'Top of the Rock'. We expected that given the location it would be very expensive, but we were mistaken. They have a 'happy hour' type promotion from 3pm-5pm. $6 for a ice cold glass of Prosecco. THis is a small quaint spot, with good food and fine wine. Nothing like sitting in the outdoor cafe in the shade on a summer afternoon, enjoying a great bottle of wine and a fruit and cheese plater. The people watching in Rockerfeller Plaza is an added benefit.
Dropped into this convenient oasis in the city centre a couple of times. Well located next to Rockefeller Plaza with some interesting views from the outdoor table settings. Extensive US and international wine list (by the bottle or glass). Small, but tasty menu with some innovative dishes. Service was quick and helpful. There is a well-stocked wine store next door... I most recntly visited Morrell's on Monday, August 27th. They have many, many wines by the glass from all major wine making countries and in many styles. I tried an Alsatian white blend for 13 dollars which was a bit sweet as I was told by the bartender. Not my favorite, but someone else might love it. My second glass... More
