I love the hiking, the backpacking, and the mountain biking off of Mammoth Mountain. June lake loop, and the hot springs are lovely. The great earthquake... More

Staff was very accommodating when inquiring as to local area attractions. Good location -- on Main Street as you're entering town.

Had a ball skiing here. Loads of amazing runs, great snow, and first class service. Fast lifts, and virtually no queues.

As you head up Hwy 203 just before you enter the Town of Mammoth Lakes on your right is the Visitor Center. They have a wealth of maps, books and information on anything you want or need to know in the Eastern Sierra. Worth stopping at whether you are a first time visitor or been coming up for years. Evening Astronomy program interesting, but taught at a basic level. But they had a great telescope and were eager to focus it on whatever constellation we wanted. XC Ski trails seem to be set every morning near the VC, great for a couple hours of cold snow-fun. Easy enough for beginners and kids.

We did carry the maps with us during our stay and used them to get around town while looking for a restaurant. Also, the maps helped us reorient... More

I always stop at the welcome center. Make sure you drive the route and see all of the murals in Bishop.

Stop in and get the lowdown on all the things you can do in Mammoth Lakes and hope you have at least a week to do them. Also, enjoyed two writers talking about their books on my last visit.
