For a fun evening of dining and/or drinking this is the place to come to in Philly. There are many different types of ethnic restaurants and dining genres, plus bars where every type of alcohol known to mankind is available. Sure it can be noisy and rowdy, but that's just to let you know that this part of the city... More

Lot's of touristy things to do. Can be overcrowded but lots of girl watching, window shopping, interesting eateries.

South Street used to be a fun, funky place to hang out on a weekend and catch a show when independent artists were performing. Then eat a good meal (for a reasonable price) and do some shopping for things you would never see out in the suburbs. What happened, South Street? A few years went by and all of a... More

I love to shop here when I come to Philly. The store, City Blue...staff was AMAZING! Friendly and helpful in making sure my boyfriend walked out of there with exactly what he needed. Millennium Art Gallery has some great art work. Of course Jim's cheese steaks always complete our day.

We went to the street festival on South Street and we had a great time. Lots of musicians lined the street as well as plenty of places and stands to eat and drink.

Even after the last incident, this place will never change. Its not worth the risk to visit the local estblishments when there will never be enough Police Officers to control the local inhabitants which frequent the streets after hours. Back in the day, this place was a real gem, but not any more.

We found this area to be family friendly. My son got sneakers at a competitive price. There was very unique hat stores, lamps, clothes, jewerly, etc. It was definatley walking distance from our hotel "DoubleTree Hilton" and other attractions. The Fabrlc Row was also a short walk. We got to see the lives of the locals and their neighborhood.

Well, back in the day, I'm sure this was true. It's certainly NOT anymore. Even 10 years ago, South Street was the groovy cultural icon located in the coolest part of Philly. My most recent visit back to the East Coast, however, revealed how down-trodden Philadelphia has become. I used to tell people, "when you go to Philly, you gotta... More

I had flash backs with cars crusing by with windows down and bass blarring. While the middle of the day there still was a slight feeling that something bad could happen. I guess if you are looking for crowds and small shops selling trinekets you should go there

There are neighborhoods that are a microcosm of a whole city, and this area does that for Philly. Just walk around and take it in, there is nothing that is a "must see" but it is a place to be absorbed and enjoyed later.
