Fun outdoor place. Lots of people watching. Try to find some one who will show inside his boathouse.
First, finally its safe area for family. There is a 3 mile area to walk , run, ride bikes, and the river offers a peaceful view of times past the Boat House Row is best viewed at nite, on the other side of the river, so beautiful to take photos. Places to bring food, buy food, and bathrooms everywhere
Just behind the Museum of Art and museum district on the Schuylkill River. On Kelly Drive which makes a great walk. A row of interesting old houses line the river banks. Occasionally you may find the scullers out there rowing down the river. This is best viewed at night when the houses are lighted.
In the pantheon of tourist attractions, Boathouse Row is a distant near last. It is almost, but not quite, not worth bothering to see, but your friends will ask if you went, and you are better off being able to say, "It was nothing," than "No."
Beautiful during the day or night, when the lights are on. Better yet, go to Waterworks restaurant, request a table in the patio and watch the sunset. Hard to beat.
The only reason I have to give this a poor rating is because you definitely have to see this sight at night when the lights are on. If you go during the day it just looks like frat houses lined up.
It's a row of houses. Yep. Oh yes, they rent bicycles and other stuffs, but we didn't bother checking those out after an exhausting day in Philly. We just went there for the view and photo ops. It's impossible to take a picture from the other side of the river (interstate & train tracks). The best place to take in... More
The beauty of Boathouse Row is indescribable. It's so unique and amazing. It amazes me because the Schuylkill River is so dirty and awful with one of the worst highways in the world nearby - The Schuylkill. Yet, this row of houses seems to make it so beautiful. If a handful of houses can take away the muck and grossness... More
Colors of the boathouses. At night they are guards of the river. Beautiful in the spring or winter especially when the light and color reflect on the water.
