Only 20 minutes from my house and I have never been for lunch or dinner. Friends from Connectict also have always wanted to go for lunch. We finally made a reservation ( which is suggested) and met on 5/7/13. The CIA is a one of a kind fine dinning experience which should not be missed. We chose to have lunch... More

We just returned from a bus tour of the Hudson Valley. First stop was a tour and lunch at the CIA. The grounds are attractive, the tour was informative. We got to see actual lecture halls and kitchen classrooms, all in session. The place was bustling with culinary students in classic white chef garb. Very interesting! The student tour guide... More

We always make sure to visit this amazing school. They openned a cafe a few yrs ago. We had lunch & were not disappointed. It is not cheap but you get to meet the culinary students. The food was amazing. The soup was excellent. the coffee was excellent and they offer free refills. The portions are large so if you are... More

Most people may not know this, but the CIA has several places where the general public can come and eat. We tried for one of the sit-down restaurants, but they were all booked by the time we arrived, at about 11:30 on a Monday morning in April. So we ate at the Apple Pie Bakery Cafe -- the food was... We visited CIA for an afternoon while visiting the Hudson valley area. We ate at Apple Pie Cafe and took a tour. If you are a foodie and want to learn more about the CIA and want to see the students behind the scenes and in the classroom, the CIA has daily tours @ 4 pm M-F. It's a student... More

We made an online the day before and had dinner at the American Harvest restaurant on the campus of the Culinary Institute of America. First, I don't understand why tripadvisor doesn'tlist the CIA restaurants under the restaurant heading. They are listed under things to do in HydePark. Perhaps more importantly, the campus is very beautiful and we were treated very... More

Our daughter was graduating, and we had a meal at the Caterina de Medici restaurant. Wonderful! Apparently on graduation day, however, it is always the first day for the students in the "front of house" of the restaurants. So the service was appalling. But we were in great spirits and there to celebrate with our daughter, so it really didn't... More

My daughter and I visited the US for the first time, to attend a five-day boot camp at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Hyde Park, NY. What fun! The boot camp met all our expectations. A college with 2 400 students, all studying food. The faculty and students are very dedicated. Never saw anyone smoking outside, or walking... More

Yet another reason to love the Hudson Valley! The Culinary Institute of America is an American Icon and an American standard in the culinary industry. We had the best baked goods and coffee in the morning before touring the grounds and the main building. The history is fantastic. Dine in one of the fabulous restaurants. Make reservations in advance or... More

The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park NY provides a top notch education for students wishing to enter the food and beverage industry. An integral part of their curriculum is an on site opportunity to "work" at one of three restaurants: American fare, French and Italian. We chose the Italian named Caterina di Medici. Dining room tables require an... More
