The interior of this basilica is absolutely stunning. The colors are incredibly soft and welcoming. The restoration is marvelous. Be sure to go to the lower level as well, and see the brick and stone holding it all up!

We were very impressed with the outside of the Basilica, from passing it during our day trips, but when we finally went into the church, I was humbled by the experience. Amazing interior, complete with two domes, an unbelievable pipe organ in the organ loft and the marble statues that adorned the pulpit. The Doecents giving free tours were very... More

This is a lovely building, with lots of bright light and open space. It has a wonderful energy and sense of peace. There are many stations around with lots of flickering candles. It was a beautiful place to just sit, rest and reflect.

Beautiful experience to celebrate Jesus' passion. Acoustics are outstanding and the ceiling is amazing. Be sure to head downstairs to the crypt to see relics and the small chapel

The oldest Roman Catholic cathedral in the U.S., the basilica was designed by Benjamin LaTrobe. It is a beautiful building and has recently been renovated to capture its original interior.

We try to attend the Christmas Mass here each year and added the Easter Mass as it was fully reopening from prior storm damage. This is the most beautiful cathedral - the colors are calming and serene, it feels very light and provides the sanctuary many seek when attending mass. There is plenty of room for many, but does not... More

THis is a beautiful basillica. I had seen it a few years ago on another visit, and many years before. It is a good visit, especially for someone interested in Catholic history, BUT I WOULDN'T ADVISE GOING NOW. We were not even able to get in the sanctuary. You may have to wait a while for the post earthquake repair... More

I was an altar boy here in the 60s so I have many memories here. White wine??? Instead of the normal red? Still don't get why. The church went through a major renovation. Looks very different. If you like new, it's great, I personally loved the old look and feel with the years of candle soot on the walls. The... More
