Arrived in NYC early on a Friday morning and decided to make our first day "Brooklyn Day". Looked at the map and decided to walk down to the Botanic Garden on a whim.
What a good idea that was! Everything seemed to be coming into bloom. We also were thrilled to see the bluebell grove in full flower under the...

Brooklyn Botanical Garden is excellent place to enjoy the cherry blossom. I was there on end of April and most of the Cherry were blooming. There is a cherry walk, where you enjoy strolling in the garden full of cherry blossom. Breath taking atmosphere. BBG also have an excellent Japanese garden and tropical garden.
For those in tri-state area, BBG has a great setup for cherry blooms. There are rows and rows of cherry trees that tend to bloom together. It is a good photo-op during spring, we have been there two years for cherry blooms. The best part is the bloom tracker map. They accurately update it on their website with status of...

Visited the first weekend in May and the cherry blossoms were in full bloom, tulips were still very beautiful and a few daffodils were still standing. The grounds were beautiful and the beautiful sunshine just added to the atmosphere. Great pace to bring the kids or adults! Did not get to the indoor exhibits.. Maybe next time!
make sure you visit on cherry bloosom time, very good place to stay away from the city hectic enviroment

Early spring is cherry blossom time and a perfect time to visit the BBG. The gardens are beautiful but the Japanese Pond Garden is so peaceful and by far the jewel of this park. Also check out the Water Lily Terrace - amazing detail on the fountain spouts. Easy access via mass transit and nice way to spend an afternoon.
