Extremely love this museum! It was so suggestif, and I liked so much the exposition of Ancient Egypt, in particular I appreciated the mummies and the jeweleries, there were also some iPads to show the different methods of mummification and it was so educative! It's definitely a must do visiting New York City!

Because it is in Brooklyn, it doesn't get Manhattan crowds and doesn't charge Manhattan prices. The 2 or 3 subway (either one) takes you to Eastern Parkway which is mere steps from the entrance. It is $12 or pay-what-you-wish. Students and seniors are less. Permanent exhibits include Judy Chicago's Dinner party. Temporary shows include the terrific John Singer Sargent watercolors.... More

This is a very well maintained and extensive collection of art and Americana. The storage area is open to the public for viewing and took up most of our time. The museum is laid out well and has a place to purchase food and drink as well as a terrific gift store. Designate a day to be split between visiting... More

This is a great museum. Start on the top floor to find a great collection of American art and furniture and an interesting storage room full of interesting objects. each floor has something different to offer. There is a suggested donation price of 12 dollars to get in. For this price you get your moneys worth. The building itself is... More

This was our second trip to the museum. It is a well laid out and quite varied museum. A little bit of everything. But what I liked the most was the "open storage" area of the museum. Most museum's have storage areas that are out of sight and out of kind. This museum has an area where you can see... More

Went to the Brooklyn Museum a while ago but I remember really enjoying the design exhibition they had when we were there. I think it was in the permanent collection. Nice egyptian collection as well! Great place with nice staff. Plan about 3 hours or more to enjoy the museum fully.

I went on the first Saturday of the month (Target First Saturdays), which had additional events going on, live music, artist presentations, extended hours and no cover charge if you arrived after 5:00 pm. The museum was very crowded which I expected since there were additional events going on that night and no admittance fee. The live music was an... More

We spent a Sunday afternoon in the museum. The John Singer Sargent exhibit was great, and they also have an impressive collection of art from the Islamic world. Staff was friendly. Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy museums.

We had come down this neighbourhood to visit the Botanic Garden at cherry blossom season. It was fun to take elevated shuttle train from Franklin station (which gas a nice display of modern stained glass). The main boulevard through this 'hood (Crown Heights?) is a magnificent wide and leafy street. It was another reminder to me that there is so... More

We went to see the Singer watercolour exhibit (which was excellent) but also toured some of the other exhibits. It is a very attractive museum - some world class collections well displayed. I can understand other reviewers using the term "gem" to describe the museum. The entrance fee is very reasonable by NYC standards although they should consider have a... More
