Very b'ful and well maintained church....the inners of this church are so b'ful....painting and pulpit are a delight to see....very calm ambience....the church has been kept very well....however its sad to see foreigners/tourists just stepping inside and clicking hopelessly without caring to show respect to the fact that its place of prayer and faith to countless people.

I described St Francis Church in Fort Cochin as plain and unspectacular. The Church of St mary’s in Champakulam is the opposite. The building are simple but very beautiful. The church was supposed to have been built by the Portuguese in 1579 on the site of one of the 7 churches founded by St Thomas the Apostle in the 5th... More

One stop at this church transforms you this beautiful church which is 1600 years old i.e 427 A.D. There is a long history behind it and its a the mother of all the churches in Kerala. The best thing about this church it is on backs of backwaters and it easily reachable. There are many resorts and home-stays nearby.
