Our extensive network of buses and streetcars winds throughout every neighborhood of the Crescent City. From Uptown to Downtown, from Lakeview to the Lower Nine, from Mid-City across the Mississippi River and to the parish lines, the RTA goes there. As streetcars glide underneath grand live oaks and past stately mansions, they offer up relaxing views of the beauty, charm and history of New Orleans for little cost. When riders board these historic vehicles they are boarding a piece of movable New Orleans history. The RTA operates three streetcar lines: the famous, historic St. Charles line, the Canal Street line, and the Riverfront line. All lines either run along or intersect with Canal Street in the area between the French Quarter and the Central Business District (CBD) connecting Uptown/Garden District, Carrollton, Mid-City, City Park and the Marigny. The RTA is currently adding more Streetcar lines. « less

The streetcar is one of the best ways to see New Orleans at the least possible expense. Pay the fare when boarding (have exact change) and just sit and relax.Best place to start is downtown at Canal St. and St, Charles Ave. Get on board and get a window seat on one side and ride it out to the end... This streetcar runs from Canal St. All the way uptown. Sometimes. During our visit, the upper part of the track was being redone so we had to make a bus transfer. This wasn't very smooth on a Saturday morning. Be sure to allow plenty of time for your trip. There is a schedule posted online, but the reality is trips... More

Great way to get into downtown and a nice ride even with the 26 15 air conditioner (26 windows rolled down at 15 miles per hour) . Leave the car behind and rider the trolley to some of the best dinning around or ride from the Maison St. Charles hotel into town. Skip the traffic and parking hassles. Really nice... More

Easy way to get to the Garden District to check out the antique shops and houses. Comes often as well.

We hopped on to take the streetcar and enjoy the beautiful houses...but the line is under construction/repair so we only got to take it part of the way then had to get off, walk across the street and get on a bus for most of the ride. Totally different experience...had to then switch buses at the end of the line... More

We set off on on this streetcar on our last day in NOLA with no set schedule or itinerary, just wanted to see more of the city. I would highly recommend this if you are not in a hurry and would like a closer look at the miles of beautiful, historic homes along the way. One block of the line... More

How can you go wrong with a all day pass for $3? Get out of the French Quarter for a few hours and see more of NO by taking different lines.

In June, it's hot. So prepare to deal with it. And know that many of the trolleys ride with the windows open because there's no AC. Also, at peak times of day the cars can be very crowded....but not always. One thing to be aware of this summer: the tracks are being repaired, and there is a stretch from the... More

It was our 1st time to ride the street car and we loved it. It gave us a chance to see the area without driving. Loved the all day passes we got from the driver. It was for all the street cars in NOLA.

While busy during rush hours, hop on and off with an all day pass and enjoy the ride and shops. Beautiful architecture.
