Went on a Friday afternoon. Passed maybe six people on my way up the trail. The path was well maintained, and I expected to see some amazing pond or creek at the end, but nada. Moderate trail with steps and upgrade. Not enough tome to go all the way to oasis but view from high point one mile in is spectacular.

This hike's trailhead is easy to get to (from the North side of the Park) and the trail is not overly strenuous. The Fourtynine Palms Oasis trail the oasis was definitely the #1 highlight of our Joshua Tree National Park trip.
The hike is moderate and although only 3 miles roundtrip, be very careful on when you go. We started at 9am in July, and there were about 4 other cars in the parking lot. The others who were hiking this trail...

Very easy to follow trail and not too strenuous. Was very hot and glad we had plenty of water and I had a large sunhat. Just as we arrived at the palms a coyote was standing on a rock just watching us as we approached then he walked away. It was amazing to see wildlife so close. We didn't see...

This hike is not difficult and has some great views of Twentynine Palms area, lots of desert blooming plants in the spring. The oasis area is a good place to rest, cool down and have a snack. Water level at oasis varies with season and amount of rain received. Carry lots of water with you for this hike.

This is a really nice hike to a very special place. It is an easy to moderate hike but take lots of water as it can get very hot (early morning would be the best time to do this hike). Well signed and just off the main hwy (there is a vet business on the corner).
