We arrived with kids in tow for a tour and had to wait about 45 minutes until the tour started. We watched the same video over and over while we waited. The free samples were really good coffee as were the teas. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and passionate and gave great info. I learned a lot. Unfortunately because... More

We drove 30 minutes to take a free tour of Mountain Thunder but along with others, we left without a tour. There was only one person who both gave the tour and sold the coffee products and she totally ignored people who came for the tour without even saying hello. We left a half hour after the tour was supposed... More

My sisters and I recently visited this gorgeous location and not really knowing what to expect before arriving we felt as though we had stubbled across an organic farming gem! The staff were very informative not only about their organic coffee methods but we were given a run down on local flora and Hawaiian history as well. Our tour guide... More

We have been to the Big Island several times and toured many of the coffee plantations but never went into the rainforest to this one. It was a beautiful drive, through lush rainforests and small towns--it was pouring rain when we got there but they handed out umbrellas during the free tour we took part in. The tour guide lady... We had just visited Huladaddy and were a bit spoiled. The guide was very knowledgeable about plants but lacking in some <most> of the social graces. She explained to out group that the hydrangeas were not native (duh, who hasn't seen them on the mainland?) but were planted by the "gay guys down the street". Someone tried to go into... More

We give Mountain Thunder Coffee a 5 star rating for their tour and experience! Our tour guide Judy shared her vast experience and knowledge of coffee. We left with a far greater understanding of the organic process of coffee production. We realize now why the organic process produces a coffee that is far superior than coffees purchased at wholesale retailers.... More

I really wish that I could rate our tour at the Mountain Thunder Coffee Plantation better, but truly, it was below average; the only redeeming factor was that their coffee is outstanding. Our tour was booked as a cruise ship excursion and included a tour of the Hualalai Crater. This involved making our way via van up into the clouds... More

I thought I knew everything I needed to know about coffee but in about an hour and a half I tripled my knowledge. I have been on big tours in big shiny factories and didn't get as much out of them as I got from this one. Mahalo Nui!

Wonderful place, high above Kona. At the top of the mountain. Quaint farm like area. Chickens that like to be petted. Geese, cats, dog's, donkeys. Coffee samples. They have been featured in two cooking show sits. The world's dirtiest jobs and how is that made. Sipping coffee and watching the shows on the two big screens while eating for the... More
