Don't miss the opportunity to visit the Rees carillon in Springfield's beautiful Washington park. Sights from the top of this132 foot tower are breathtaking. The music is great and the surounding gardens are filled with roses.

Beautiful. I like Spring the best with all of the tulips and daffidils, but they keep up with it throughout the warm months. There is a rose garden with many species, a fountain area, a very short hedge maze and depending on when you go, you can take a tour of the carillon.
I was just driving around when I happened upon this park, I visited in the fall time and lucked out with all the trees changing colors which makes for a stunning display, especially on a sunny day! I stumbled across the angel of hope for children that have been called to heaven before they were born. I just sat and...

This is located on the Mall. It is very well maintained and had different rooms divided into themes- orchids, dessert, jungle, medicinal plants, pacific etc.
You could easily do it in half an hour.
Great place to have a quick look at, and it is a quiet peaceful interlude. There are a few seats and tables where you can sit...

Beautiful (free) gardens, great place for a peaceful stroll. Extra points if the carillon (bell tower) is playing. Took the $3.00 tour of the carillon, more to donate to it's upkeep than to learn about it--OK, but not required to enjoy its music. This place has potential with its pleasant setting on a hill in Washington Park, next to the carillon. But the perennial gardens are uninspired and overrun with weeds, and the one small greenhouse lacks focus. I suspect they are low on funding and could use more volunteers.
Beautiful park with lots of walking/running area paved. Family pictures done here. Has a variety of gardens to tour as well as learn from. Carillon festival and pumpkin festival is our favorite.
Very beautiful, peaceful gardens with walking paths near the bell tower. Great afternoon hiking around and looking at flowers. Park has swings in a different area and many walking paths. Enjoy!
The gardeners were getting the "Easter Show" ready and we could tell that it will be a wonderful and fragrant show. opening very soon!
O.k. It is not nearly as big or as great as the Chicago botanical gardens...but our carillon is much more impressive!
The Thomas Rees Memorial Carillon is played daily and you can take tours of it. It is a city gem. If you are here during june 3 -12, 2012 you can attend the international carillon festival which ends with...
