The tour is a half an hour at the most, but you learn a lot and see many different and interesting rooms within the Mansion. There is no cost and it is easy to find parking near by.
This mansion is beautiful inside and out. I have attened many functions here. Period furniture and curio's filled with antiques. A great place for a meeting, wedding or any function, large and small.
Its not a very popular trip, but if your in springfield and have time, its worth the trip. Some things are out of date but it is very ornate. My favorite part was all of the different bedroom sets. These are all very unique. One was hand widdled. The entire set, dressers, headboard, footboard.... Very cool

The grounds include a lovely garden during the growing season. During the Christmas Season, the house has many trees decorated by staff from various historic sites. During recent visits the knowledge of the...

One bedroom has furniture with...

Th home is generally decked out at Christmas (what better time to go through?) The docent (Jackie) who led us around was extremely knowledgeable (even some of the other docents overheard and learned new tidbits from her.) The private areas of the home are not open to the public, but still a nice tour and enjoyable to see all of...

We had a private tour of t his governor's residence and it was interesting but did not seem very "homey" - more for state dinners, etc.
Well maintained grounds, but there are better sites to see in Springfield. Spend your time at these other great places.
we were walking the area, and we stopped to admire the building. One of the tour guides stepped outside to let us know that he would be glad to let us in on the last tour of the day. We went, and it was very nice!
