We spent a very enjoyable couple of hours here. The castle is set above the historic walled town of Soave in Veneto, Italy, and nestles amongst serried banks of vines which produce the very decent local wine, named after the town.
It is an interesting site which houses an eclectic set of medieval furnishings and some trappings from its gory...

It was a really cool castle. There isn't a whole lot left to the castle but what is there is neat. The really cool part is going to the top and looking over Soave at the town and the vineyards.
Wow. They charge 6 euros per person to walk up a very steep cobblestone path to a fortified castle with - nothing. The view is okay, but there is nothing to see up there. To add insult to injury, we parked at the Tourist Information Centre and talked to the people in there who didn't bother to warn us about...

Very well kept mid evil castle. The long walk is worth the view when you get to the top. Vineyards and hills as far as the eye can see. Most businesses with in the castle wall close early so keep that in mind if you need anything other then food.
This review is only tangentially about the castle -- it's very nice, and worth a visit, but the real attraction is Soave itself. The old city, and especially the intact city walls are a...

good to visit it in all seasons, day and night, always! good to visit it in all seasons, day and night, always!
Scenic, quiet, a wonderfull way to kill an afternoon, or a day, if you're so inclined. This is the LAND of some excellent white wine, may as well walk it off. The castle is nothing spectacular (sorry, I've been here too long - it is worth a visit!)
The Castle actually dominates the town, it can be seen from far away. Do not hesitate to walk the path leading to the entrance and then enjoy the views of Soave and the adjacent lands, including the vineyards where they grow the grapes to make the famous Soave white wines. There is a little museum, three rooms of the castle...

It is really "nice", but nice in terms of "nice for everyday folks who want to see the castle from the fairy tale". If you are into history... do not expect much.
the bad thing was that the guard did not want to let us in, although there was 15 more minutes until closing time (the time for lunch) -...
