This winding rode south of Estes Park is a beautiful drive. Take your time and make some stops along the way. You'll pass Lilly Lake which is worth a stop. Along the way you will see what looks like a tiny European castle on a rock, complete with moat. This is St. Catherine's Chapel. Pull over for a visit. It... More

We traveled the Peak to Peak Highway from Estes Park to I-70. The roadway provides mountain vistas of Longs Peak and Mount Meeker and many others. While Big Thompson Canyon is a treat, this drive is far superior. It is the slow route that parallels I-25, and is well worth the time. You pass through interesting communities like Nederland where... More

We caught the road coming out of Denver and had to struggle a bit, unfamiliar with the area. The rural and mountain scenery is lovely, as well as the small towns on the route. Black Hawk is a hoot, a big lump of Vegas crammed in a tiny valley, 4 lanes in (from the south) and 2 lanes out. I... More

We drove on this byway from Estes park to Blackhawk co. The views are amazing. The drive took about 2 hours with stops along to way to take photos. This drive is a must if you like scenery.

Great thing to do on a free day. It was foggy though so I know it would have been better on a sunny day. Very surprised to come across a mini Las Vegas on the drive! Hard town to get out of though. The roads kept bringing us to downtown! It is hard to park if you have a bigger... More

Took this drive back to Denver International Airport from Estes Park. Its a windy, hilly road with good views and much better than doing the interstate. Saw lots of bikers amazingly climbing these steep grades. Stopped in Nederland, a funky town on the way back through Boulder. It does not compare to the Trail Ridge Road, but a good alternative... This is a must when you're visiting Rocky Mountain National Park. We saw hundreds of elk and were lucky enough to see 10 Big Horn Sheep rams in the meadow. The view of the mountains on this highway is unequaled.

Great scenic road; but, not anything near the views and vistas on the Rocky Mountain National Park. If time constraints exist on your visit and can only go on one drive...skip this and go on Rocky Mountain National Park. In most any part of the world, this drive is beautiful too.

Peak to Peak is less traveled and offers some great views. Stop by and take a short hike around Lily Lake - although it probably gets very busy in the high season.
