Wow, I have been to many botanical gardens all over the USA. This is one of the best, if not the best i have ever seen. Plan on half a day here. I don't know if you can bring a picnic lunch but if they allow it then go for it. There are a hundred perfect spots.

I love coming here because there is something new to see each time I come. I bring my children every summer to view the ever changing exhibits.

I do a lot of weddings in San Antonio and find that this location has so many beautiful options for a wedding (or other parties). The grounds are well maintained, seasonal and colorful. Do wear cool clothing in the summer as it is HOT. Good walking shoes are a must. Kids will love it too. Lot's for families to see... More

This is a lovely garden to visit. We especially appreciated exploring the various areas of Texas that are represented throughout the gardens. It was like a tour of the state. There are also indoor areas with a variety of plantings. We were slightly disappointed there weren't more large formal garden spaces to relax in and we had difficulty following the... More

I don't usually care a lot about plants, flowers, trees, etc., but I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. You can see everything in less than 1 hour, or spend the whole day enjoying the atmosphere.

Wear your walking shoes and have a hat for the sun because you can spend hours here. Benches are provided in strategic shady places where you can relax and take in a peaceful view. There is so much variety to see and enjoy. The Texas Native Trail is particularly interesting as it gives a feel of how big Texas is... More

You can travel Texas, botanically at least, with a visit here. There is an outstanding East Texas area -- with tall trees and a muddy bayou -- and an excellent South Texas plains area that encompasses a great variety of plant life and terrain. There's much more, of course, and there's even a chance to do some real bird-watching. Gift... More

The truly unique aspect of this Botanical Garden are the sections of East Texas, South Texas and the Hill Country. The East Texas section was phenomenal. It has a large pond with towering cypress and maple trees that you won't find many of anywhere else in San Antonio. Friends have told me this is the only spot to take pictures... More

I was truly amazed to see many plants still in bloom. These gardens are meticulously cared for. Kudos to the staff and I am sure all of the volunteers

What a lovely way to spend the day. It was raining, which is rare in San Antonio but that didn't take away from enjoying the plant and floral beauty that abounds. Exploring the grounds during and after a good rain, one could easily see how beneficial and sparkling the plant life appeared afterwards. We are so glad we brought a... More
