We were looking for a break from Santa Fe and Hyde Memorial Park was it! Within an hour we were sledding in the snow! But stop a sporing goods store to pick up a sled!
We enjoyed traveling into the country a bit, but the roads were narrow and a recent snowfall caused the roadside overlooks to be difficult to navigate. If it had been later in the season or in the fall, I believe the views would have been stunning.
If you like the woods this is your place! Went in the middle of august, slept in a tent it was awesome! I thought I might get sick from the high elevation but, it had no effect on me. The park rangers were very friendly. Would love to come here in the winter!
for sledding and tubing. Kind of a wait in line, but it is free to use and a lot of fun. Parking is a bit limited.

Beautiful views overlooking the valley below if you continue on past the park a little ways. We plan to return to hike and camp in this area in the summer! $5 day use fee for park....

Fun place to go to sled! If you don't want to ski or just want to have fun with the kids you can sled at Hyde park for free. Actually you do have to pay to park but it was cheap!
