You need to drive through Flagstaff to get to the Grand Canyon, but be sure to stop in the historic downtown area. Lots of locally-owned breweries, wine bars, restaurants, and shops. Free entertainment events in summer. Take the walking tour of downtown to learn about the history of the area.

A very charming, and historic downtown; many historic buildings are well preserved and have markers giving history of the building; nice walking area.

I always enjoy the old downtown area of Flagstaff. I love how they have kept up the old buildings without trying to modernize the area...It should always keep that historic feel. I wasn't looking to buy clothes, but if I was, there were a lot of cute stores in the area & I didn't feel that the prices were all... More

We loved walking around - going into the Hotel Monte Vista - and ended up with Happy Hour at Collins Irish Pub on Leroux St (lots of nice NAU students both as customers and servers!)

I've tried Charly's in the historic Wetherford Hotel and Pastos the following evening and both were very good. The town has a lot going on. Parking can be a challenge.

Flagstaff is located on Route 66 in the middle of the railroad district. Over 100 trains go through here each day. The railroad station in it's original form is just a great place to browse and of course watch the trains come through. Lots of bars, shops and restaurants downtown. Very laid back atmosphere. Would recommend and WILL be back.

I dont think it was the best time of year to visit but still had a very nice time. I would suggest visiting in the summer time. Sunday many shops are closed and the ones that are open sunday don't open untill 10 a.m . The trains were great, shops were neat and there are many great food options.

It was really nice to walk around down town Flagstaff. The shops downtown are neat to look at, and the town is beautiful.

Very easy to locate, parking found quickly and a wonderful afternoon of exploring the area. Clean and friendly people everywhere we went.

The plaques on the sides of the buildings were the best part. Most of what is there is bars, restaruants, clothing stores, and new-agey massage and healing centers. There were a few standouts: mix, a salad/sandwich/ice cream bistro, and Peace Surplus, which is the coolest sporting goods store I've ever been in.
