I got to the park late afternoon on a weekday and it was not tourist season so nothing much was going on but the view of Newport Harbor with it's sailboats was well worth the drive.

Fort Adams is huge and well maintained. Our guide was informative with a host of stories. Try not to go on an extremely windy day !!

When we travel, we bring along supplies for a light picnic lunch of cheese, bread, crackers, sliced meats, wine and water, so we are always on the look out for a good place to stop around 2:00 PM. This is a good spot off season to stop for a picnic. When you enter go immediately to the left, then take... More

Walked the loop, decent walk with some views. There is the fort in the center. They had tours, but they were limited in the times, so didn't take one. There were bathrooms, and plenty of picnic tables.

Fort Adams State Park is not to be missed! Even if you think you "don't like history" and that it doesn't look like much when you pull up, don't pass up what might turn out to be a highlight of your Newport vacation -- it was for us. It's important, however, to take the guided tour. They are run twice... More

We drove in here from our 10 mile scenic drive, but did not pay for the tour. We did however walk along the water out front of the fort which gave you a nice view across the harbor of the wharf area.

I visited Fort Adams during a sailing event, and the views from throughout the park were great. The park and event staff kept the place well organized. I'm not sure what I preferred, the expansive waterviews and walking area or the historic structures we could walk through and explore. A great place to bring the kids, or to bring visitors... More

We were in Newport in the early Spring, when there are only two tours and we missed it. I want to get in this fort..and we will be back. But on the views of of the sail boats! Even on this early Spring Sunday afternoon, we found a spot out of the wind and watched the sail boats skim across... More

I was so blown away by my group's tour guide, Steven. He did a phenomenal job and was so knowledgeable. Many people do not get a chance to hear/learn about Newport's Revolutionary War history or connections to the military during WWII. Fort Adams allows you to learn about the occupation by the British in the War for Independence, changes in... More

Enjoy the history of Fort Adams. Watch some college sailing or catch a soccer game. It's worth a visit.
