surreal being inside the crater, where you enter Diamond Head to go hiking to the peak. It is an easy to moderate walk. Not much in way of snacks/drinks, so take your own in a backpack.

We caught a taxi from our hotel ($14) to the entrance and paid the cheap $1 per person entrance fee and did the hike to the top. It is quite easy if you take your time and pace yourself. It's a concrete path, then rocky ground and then steps. All up, it is about an hour and a half... that's... More

Many people do not know you can drive into Diamond Head. There is a park inside. You will have to pay to park if you drive in. It is an interesting geological formation and you will get a feel for the make up of the islands.

An easy and fun hike on a well marked trail. It takes 20 to 25 minutes to get to the top, and the views and cool breeze are fantastic.

You can take the bus for $2.50 if you don't have a car. Entry is $1 for walkers, $5 for vehicles. Wear hiking shoes and a hat and take lots of water. There are bathrooms, water fountains and food at the entrance. The hike is not too bad if you take your time. The first set of steps (72) is... More

Awesome views, one part tough climb using the stairs. Use alt way and you will be much happier. Go left and not right and you will miss those killer stairs. Go early, no later then 0830 I would say due to parking. Bring water and wear a hat.

bring water...bring water...bring water!!! Also, wear walking/hiking shoes. After reading reviews, this became one of the things on our "to do list". It's listed as a moderate hike for people in average condition...I would say with the exception of people that are "athletic" it's a bit challenging. Maybe it's the heat/humidity...but most people were looking pretty tired by the top... More
