This is a very busy and interesting place with tons of people, vendors, beggars and tourists. The blend of the deeply spiritual and the calamitous activity is magical. Many photo ops.
It was a very crowded area with a lot of locals and tourists milling around. One can find a lot of vendors here, shops too and the view of the Ganga is simply amazing. This is a must visit for all.
There are a lot of temples in Haridwar, a very famous Holy place. However one finds a big chunk of Haridwar’s population at Har Ki Pauri. The crowd has devotees, tourists, locals, all milling around. The cool breeze coming from the high speed flow of the Ganga river is very relaxing. You can stand here and admire the whole scene.... More
The ghat is very dirty and water flow has reduced significantly post the Uttarakhand floods that affected Kedarnath. The river bed is filled with silt and other residue. Strictly avoidable from tourist perspective. Pls go only from Religious perspective if you have to.
must see specially in winters as water is clear and cool, its the reason for your going there, with proper technique and some coaxing you can climb one of the towers for the best view and if u know someone on the ghat then perhaps you cud be close to the aarti itself

I like the whole experience and washing away my sins by taking a dip in the holy Ganges :-) however I found the people asking for donations in the name of some trust very very irritating. Apparently they are approved by government, thats the sad part.

This is great place to be for people having faith in god. Just Seeing the currents of holy river ganges will give you a very pleasurable, godly feeling. You will find hundreds of devotees taking dip in the river dawn to dusk. During the evening, do not miss the aarti. I took my parents here as pilgrimage and they were... More
